Kay Grinstead – December 31, 2013

Grinstead Obit PicKay Grinstead, 88, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Lance Herrington, associate pastor of Paramount Baptist officiating. A private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Kay was born Jan. 16, 1925, in Chillicothe to Ross and Estelle Stanley.  She married Harold Grinstead on Aug. 22, 1947, in Lubbock.  She worked for Sears for more than 25 years.  Kay was a member of Paramount Baptist Church, since 1960, where she taught Sunday school, training union, and worked in the church library.  She deeply loved her church, family, and friends and will be missed.

She loved to play games with family and friends.  She spent a lot of time knitting and watching the animals outside of her window.

Survivors include her husband, Harold Grinstead of Amarillo; two sons, Terry Grinstead and wife Sherlee of Phoenix, AZ and Bruce Grinstead and wife Cindy of Ft. Worth; two brothers, Dudley Stanley and Kyle Stanley, both of Amarillo; a sister, Betty LeGrand of Bushland; three grandchildren, Allison Grinstead, Shannon McBreen and Jessica Harris; two great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Bryndon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Morris and Winona Cobb Mission Scholarship Fund at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S. Western Street, Amarillo, TX 79109.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at the funeral home.
