Gid Tucker, 80, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013.
Services will be at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Gid was born Sept. 7, 1932, in Farley, NM to Ray and Laura Mae Tucker. Gid served in the Korean War with distinction as a radar operator. He lived primarily in Amarillo and Canutillo, NM, and was a resident of Pampa since 2009. While living in Amarillo he owned lounges.
He was an avid horse trainer in partnership with his father; and, he ran horses on his own until he retired. He never lost his love for the horse races.
He was preceded in death by an older brother, Rex Tucker and a niece, Shirley Godbey.
Survivors include two sisters, Margie Don Putman and Jan Trimble, both of Pampa; a half-brother, Terry Tucker; a half-sister, Sherry Tucker; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, Rowena Hogan, Woodrow Putman, Vicki Ray Fowler, Roxzanna Dusmond, Sandy Gid Tucker, Laura Don Endsley and Dreamia Klein.
