Gary D. Mayfield, 64, of Amarillo, died, Monday, October 10, 2011.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2011 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Jim Wilhite, Pastor, Hillside Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Mayfield was born on February 28, 1947 in Wichita, KS to Deane and Helen Mayfield. He graduated from Wichita North High School and attended Butler County Community College. He married Janye Miller on October 5, 1968 in El Dorado, KS. They moved to Amarillo in March 1975. Mr. Mayfield worked at IBP as a management trainer and then went to work at USDA as an inspector. He loved hunting, fishing, playing golf and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a member of the Yellowrose Sams RV Club, and served as Highland Park School Board president. He owned Mayfield Tax Service and really loved doing taxes and his customers. He was a loving husband and father and he had an extra special spot in his heart for his grandchildren.
Survivors include wife, Janye Mayfield, of the home; son, Michael Mayfield and wife Gabriele of Amarillo; daughter, Krissa Brown and husband Chris of Amarillo; mother, Helen Mayfield of Amarillo; brother, Larry Mayfield of Lawrence, KS; sisters, Donna Mayfield of Phoenix, AZ and Ronda Limon of Wichita, KS; and grandchildren, Eric Creek, Brylee Mayfield, Keeley Brown, Kailyn Brown, and Kenzi Brown, all of Amarillo.
Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 12, 2011.
We are so sad to hear about Gary and we would have liked to have been there for you in this time of loss. We will say prayers for you and your family. Heavan has gained a good man. Love you
