Beverly A. Ross, 80, of Amarillo, died Sunday, August 19, 2012.
Services will be private. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Ross was born October 10, 1931, at Chilhowee, MO to Mary Maude and Rev. Hollis R. Wharton. She attended elementary school at Peculiar, MO, and then Malta Bend, MO before the family moved to Tampico, IL. She completed high school at Tampico and enrolled at Western Illinois University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She enjoyed teaching at the elementary level and specifically enjoyed the humor and innocence of 4th graders.
She married C. Arnold Ross on June 6, 1954, at the Walnut, IL Methodist Church with her father officiating. After graduating from Western Illinois University, the couple moved to Denver, CO where Arnold began a career with GMAC. The couple were relocated several times with Beverly teaching in various schools in Illinois, Colorado, Wyoming, and Kansas over a period of 14 years.
Beverly especially enjoyed her role as mother and grandmother, and was always in attendance at the various sporting events in which her grandsons participated. Holiday dinners were always a special occasion bringing the whole family together for a day of festivities.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Brewton of Amarillo; two grandsons, Craig Brewton and wife, Lexie and Matt Brewton and wife Amy, all of Amarillo; a sister, Barbara Schrader of Walnut, IL; a brother, Logan Wharton of Stuart, FL; and five grandchildren, Sam, Ryder, Presley, Sara, and Leah Brewton.
