William “Bill” A. Curtis, 86, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 24, 2012. Private family graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Bill was born on November 27, 1925 in Mexia, Texas to William A. & Lela Pearl Curtis. He earned his bachelors degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University. He worked as an independent on sight petroleum geologist. He had also owned Triple S Mud Logging. He was both a collector and dealer of depression era glass.
He married Joann Hargrove on February 5, 1948 in Lubbock.
Bill was preceded in death by a daughter, Laura Curtis.
He is survived by his wife, Joann Curtis of Amarillo; three sons, Steven Douglas Curtis and wife Mary of Amarillo, Bryan Keith Curtis and wife Nicole of Alvin, Texas, Richard Ray Curtis of Amarillo; a daughter, Alice Ann Smith and husband Pokey of Santa Fe, Texas; a brother, Charles Curtis of Houston; a sister, Betty Jo Jordan of New Braunfels, Texas; eleven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
