William A. "Bill" McCabe – February 16, 2018

William A. (Bill) McCabe, 88, of Amarillo and former longtime resident of Dumas died peacefully Friday morning, February 16, 2018, surrounded by family while in hospice care in Amarillo, TX.
Celebration of Life service will be at 2:00 PM , Saturday, February 24, 2018, at Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel, 500 N. Maddox Ave., Dumas, TX with Marlin Ham officiating. A visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and will conclude immediately prior to the service.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas.
Born July 1st, 1929 in Amarillo to parents H.V. and Lula (Byrd) McCabe, Bill spent most of his formative years on the family farm near Dawn, Texas. He graduated from high school in Canyon, TX and attended West Texas State University.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years Claire Ellen (Brady, McCandless) McCabe, and brother James E. McCabe of Hereford, Tx.
Survivors include his sister Ann Carthel of Friona, TX, daughter Carla McCabe and her husband Bob Brancatelli of Dallas, TX, son Kent McCabe and his wife Lesa of Seabeck, WA, son Keith McCabe of Dumas, TX, step-son Curtis McCandless of Shattuck, OK, step-son Danny McCandless and his wife Cheryl of Fayetteville, NC, numerous beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Bill, a retired pipeline welder, embraced life to its fullest. His many interests included shooting sports, woodworking, and a lifelong love of music, which included singing, and playing trumpet and harmonica. He was an active member of the Christian Church for many years.
