Wayde Smith, 85, of Amarillo, died Thursday, August 2, 2012.
Services will be at 10 am, Monday, August, 6, 2012, in First United Methodist Church in Paducah with Glendell Smith officiating. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. in Dumont Cemetery in Dumont. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. in Amarillo.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 29, 1926, in King County to Lowell and Jewel Smith. He married Adelle Long on Feb. 7, 1954, in Paducah. He farmed in Cottle and King Counties until retirement in 1997. Mr. Smith was a board member of the King Cottle Water Supply, and served as president on the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church in Paducah. He was a volunteer to help raise money for the rodeo and 4th of July Celebration. Mr. Smith served as City Councilman and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Canyon.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Adelle Smith of Amarillo; three daughters, Judy Baldwin and husband Darrell of Amarillo, Sharma Smith of Vinton, Louisiana and Colleen Reed and husband Wayne of Silverton; two brothers, Mody Smith and wife Ann Nell of Dumont and Truman Smith and wife Nada of Vernon; four grandchildren, Tyler Reed and wife Stefani, Drew Reed, Aaron Wayde Baldwin and Alyssa Baldwin; and many loved nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church, 904 10th Street Paducah, TX 79248; Dumont Homecoming Fund, 163 CR 112, Paducah, Texas 79248; or a favorite charity.
