Virginia Louise Rossi Gerber, 91, of Amarillo, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012.
Rosary will be said 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Mass will be celebrated 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Gerber was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Montague County to Louis and Marie Rossi. She was a registered nurse, graduating from St. Anthony’s Hospital and worked there and at Northwest Texas and Swisher County hospitals. She attended Amarillo College and was in Cadet Nurse Corp. Mrs. Gerber belonged to St. Hyacinth Women’s Auxiliary, Senior Citizens at St. Hyacinth, and Discussion Club. She enjoyed painting, cake decorating, gardening and cooking in her younger life. Mrs. Gerber was a generous and very loving woman and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Marie Rossi; her husband, Henry Gerber; two brothers, Henry and Frank Rossi; and a sister, Inez Cox.
Survivors include a son, Bob Gerber and wife Elaine, and their children, Kali, Jamie and Megan; three daughters, Nadine Berend and husband Ray, Irene Riley and husband Mark, and Debbie Gerber; ten grandchildren, Michael and wife Jobie, Michelle and husband Brant, Brent and wife Michala, Marcus, Melissa and husband Jason, Stephen, Kari and husband Brad, Kali, Jamie and husband Ben, and Megan; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ann Anderwald of Amarillo.
