Roberto Villanueva Gallegos, 68, of Dumas, died Sunday, March 18, 2012.
Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 20, 2012 in Boxwell Brothers Memorial Chapel, 500 N. Maddox. Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Ron Matthews officiating. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012 in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox.
Roberto was born June 19, 1943 in Chihuahua, Mexico to Martin and Inez Gallegos. He married Mary Frances Ortiz on Nov. 1, 1991. He was a farmer for Garrison Farms. Roberto loved to play pranks on everybody, keeping the laughter going. He loved everybody and never had a bad word to say. Roberto loved traveling with Frances and his family. Roberto was an excellent baseball player and could have been a professional pitcher but had to go to work as a farmer. He really loved life and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; a special grandson, Jopshua Ortiz, Jr., of the home; two daughters, Roberta Munoz and husband Gabriel and Minnie Gallego, all of Dumas; a stepdaughter, Connie Montoya of Dumas; three stepsons, Charles Ortiz and Frank Ortiz and wife Diane, all of Amarillo and David Ortiz and wife Kim of Borger; a sister, Mary Vasquez of Dumas; two brothers, Armando Gallegos and Freddie Gallegos and wife Tina, all of Dumas; three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, all of Colorado; three aunts; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by three grandsons, twenty step-grandchildren; sixteen step-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Rosa Gallegos, mother of his two daughters.
