Ollie Dunlap, 87, of Amarillo died on Monday, October 1, 2012.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at First Assembly of God with Billy D. Nickell and John VanHoose, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Dunlap was born on October 26, 1924 in Bridgeport, Texas to James and Sarah VanHoose. She worked as a bookkeeper for Dunlap-Nabor’s Garage in Plainview from 1946-1974 and then built and owned the Dunlap’s Marina on Lake Bridgeport. Mrs. Dunlap moved to Amarillo in 2000. In 2003, she began working for Walmart as a door greeter up until January of this year. She was a member of First Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, J.D. Dunlap, a son-in-law, Vern Rueb, five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Dunlap and Theresa Rueb, both of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Walker of Leslie, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Sundee Mahone and husband Cliff and Jason Rueb and wife Pam; three great grandchildren, Candee Hoggatt, James Rueb and Chantel Rueb; one great-great grandchild, Nathan Rueb.
The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell Street, Amarillo, Texas 79109, or to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore Drive #110, Amarillo, Texas 79106.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
