Maurice P. Jackson, 73, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Johnson Chapel AME Church, 1901 N. Washington, with the Rev. Phillip Randall officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Jackson was born February 28, 1939, in Taylor to George and Otha Jackson. He married Shirley Benson on Nov. 28, 1994, in Amarillo. Mr. Jackson loved playing golf; was a boxer in his younger days; and loved football and was a fan of the San Francisco 49ers. He loved being a family man and spending time with his grandchildren. Maurice was a shop-a-holic and could spend days in the malls.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Jackson, of Amarillo; three sons, Edward Jackson and wife Natalie of Amarillo, Michael Jackson of Pompano Beach, FL, and Terry Evans and wife Angela of Lubbock; two daughters, Jeanette Arnold of San Jacinto, California, and Yolanda Edwards of Greenville; four brothers, S.T. Jackson , Benjamin Jackson and wife Willetta, and James Jackson and wife Beverly, all of Amarillo, and Don Dennon and wife Candy of California; eight grandchildren, Donniesha Johnson of California, LaToya Arnold of California, Jordan Cole of Greenville, Daneshia Price of Greenville, LaTonya Arnold of California, Brittany Johnson of Midland, Terri A.N. Evans of Amarillo and Terry Cleon Evans of Amarillo; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Friday, April 20, 2012, at the funeral home.
