Marvin Louis Alexander, 83, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 16, 2012.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Pastor E.J. Cofer of New Birth Bible Fellowship officiating.  Interment will be in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Alexander (“Paw Paw” as many called him) was born Jan. 5, 1929, in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Major and Clara Alexander as the youngest of three children.  He moved to Amarillo after serving in the Armed Forces for two years where he met and married Alene Dunlap.  They made their home here in the mid 1950s.  He worked at several hotels in town before going into business for himself.  He owned and operated Alexander’s BBQ for over thirty years.  He was a hard working man who made many friends over the years and could always be counted on for a good laugh and a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; his wife, Alene; and his son Alan.
Survivors include five daughters, Sheila Alexander, Marlena Kay Alexander, Sharon Alexander and Charlotte Wilson, all of Amarillo, and Lonette Richardson of Wichita Falls; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
A special thanks to the medical staff at VA Medical Center, Outreach Healthcare, Hospice of the Southwest, and to Northwest Texas Hospital.
