Manuel P. Perez, Sr., 94, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012.
Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mass will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mr. Perez was born on January 2, 1918 in Dalhart to Maria and Carmen Perez. He was a veteran in the United States Army during World War II serving in European-African- Middle Eastern Campaigns; Company “A” 715th Railway Operations Battalion receiving a Meritorious Service Award. He had worked for Santa Fe Railroad for over 30 years. He had also worked in sales at Llano Cemetery.
He married Leonor Rodriguez on December 30, 1945 in Cd. Juarez, Mexico.
Mr. Perez was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and served as an usher.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Alex Perez and a sister, Luisa Villasenor and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Leonor Perez, of Amarillo; three daughters, Gloria Rodriguez of Amarillo; Elva Villa and husband Fred of Bridgeport; and Leticia Botkin and husband Rick of Amarillo; three sons, Manuel Perez, Jr. and wife Becky of Winslow, AZ; Robert Perez and wife Donell of Amarillo; and Eddie Perez and wife Lea of Kingwood, TX; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty nine great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great-grandchildren.
