Lora Naomi Oltjen

Lora Naomi Oltjen, 76, of Canyon died Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2018, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Mike Kuhlman officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Naomi was born August 17, 1941, in Brownfield to Onnie and Sylvia Reed.  She completed the Institution for Organizational Management at SMU.

Naomi loved to read, garden and can foods. She was honored with the Outstanding Conservation Homemaker Award. She also loved her pets and her cattle.  From 1983-1987, Naomi was the manager of Canyon Chamber of Commerce.  She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jamie Wade; and a son, Govan Mills.

Survivors include her husband, Allan Oltjen; a daughter, Gwen Mills; stepdaughter, Traci Farris, of Georgetown; a stepson, Bret Oltjen, of Temple; 12 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to City Church in Amarillo; or to Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation, 8104 Exchange Drive, Austin, Texas 78754.

    Naomi was one of the kindest people I’ve ever had the pleasure of being in the same Sunday School class with my Mother also sends her deepest condolences for the loss of precious Naomi. My Mother’ name is Dorothy Rice who sends her deepest sympathy . Our whole family wants to also Thank you so much for taking such good care of our pug Gizmo even when after having him as a big part of our family for 12 years but was beginning to suffer from arthritis and was also going blind put him down without him suffering anymore again we’re all so deeply sorry for your great loss

    We are so deeply sorry for the loss of dear sweet Naomi she was one of the sweetest people we have ever had the pleasure of being friends with and she had been a wonderful member of our Sunday School class the Soaring Spririts she will be missed our family will be praying for God to comfort you at this sad time
