Kelly Chris Kindred Savage, 55, was welcomed into the presence of our Lord and Savior on September 10, 2018.
The memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 15, at Redeemer Christian Church, 3701 S. Soncy Rd., Amarillo.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00—8:00 p.m. Friday at Evangelical Fellowship Church, 5000 SW 49th Ave.
Born in Lubbock in 1963 to Bill and Pat Kindred, Kelly graduated from Coronado High School and Methodist School of Nursing, later obtaining a Masters of Science in Nursing degree with highest honors and becoming a nursing instructor at Amarillo College. For many years she has made Amarillo home, where she was blessed with dear, lifelong friends. She found much fulfillment as an R.N. in Critical Care, the public schools, and most recently Panhandle Surgical Hospital.
An active member of Evangelical Fellowship Church, Kelly’s priorities were her Lord and her family. She considered being a mom to Kramer (born in 1991) and Kelsey (in 1993) a profound, God-given privilege and her great joy. Kelly was a terrific and loving wife to her husband James, who has been her rock and loved her well with godliness and self-sacrifice. They were devoted to each other.
Kelly tirelessly used her considerable talents and poured love into her children, her husband, her church, and all of us grateful to have known her. She spent much time and effort reaching out to others needing help or hugs. She was brilliant but never haughty, compassionate without condescension, funny but not frivolous, warm but not mushy, tough when she needed to be, spiritually insightful, and always desiring to serve Jesus Christ in her attitudes and actions.
Preceding her in death were her parents and two nieces, Angela Boren and Kristin Kindred.
Treasuring her memory are her husband James Savage; children Kramer Johnson, Kelsey and Jacob Baker, Brian and Katharine Savage, Matt and Stevi Savage, Andrew and Kristen Savage; grandchildren Lily, Susannah, Gabriel, Rhodes, Paloma, Kayleigh, and Luke; her siblings and their spouses Kathleen and Dennis Boren, Kip and Debbie Kindred, and Karen and Wendell Medlin; nieces and nephews Rocio Tsitsey, Bethany Brooks, Clay Kindred, Alyssa Kelly Bingham, Hannah Boren, Haley McAffrey, and Andrew Boren; eight great nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.
The family greatly appreciates all the meals, gifts, and tremendous love showered on them by Kelly and James’s church family at Evangelical Fellowship Church and many others in Amarillo and beyond. Kelly’s sister, Kathleen, was her constant nurse and caregiver through tough times. The staff at BSA Hospice of the Southwest provided wonderfully kind care during these recent weeks.
In lieu of flowers, Kelly has requested donations sent by mail to the David Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund, Evangelical Fellowship Church, 5000 SW 49th Ave., Amarillo TX 79109, or online to 4TruthandHope.org or SharingHopeMinistries.org.
