Joyce Faye McKee, 83, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on July 7, 2018.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson officiating. A private burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Joyce, and twin brother Cloyce, were born outside of Gracemont, Oklahoma, May 23, 1935. The pair joined their older siblings, Dalton and Dorothy, and completed the family that Henry and Nancy Abbott had always wanted.
At the age of 18, Joyce received a letter, from OU college student, Dale McKee. He asked the young Joyce if she would attend a football game with him, to which she said yes. A year later Joyce had a question for Dale, and his answer changed their lives forever. The pair were married by Dale’s grandfather, on November 23, 1954, in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
In the years that followed, three sons were born to Joyce and Dale; Gary, Terry, and Brian. Motherhood was Joyce’s area of expertise. Family was her everything, and playing golf, a close second. Joyce’s compassion could warm your heart with a single hug.
In the 1970’s Joyce and Dale moved their family to Amarillo Texas. It is here that they started a thriving business, Pak-A-Sak, which is still owned and operated by the McKee family.
Joyce was a very active member of First Baptist Church, along with many other community causes close to her heart.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dale McKee; and sons, Gary and wife Connie, Terry and wife Lisa, and Brian and wife Delinda, all of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Jennifer and John Cronk, Ryan McKee, Tanner and Sarah McKee, Tiffany and Barrett Sims, Megan and Britton White, Chelsy and Robert Ritter, Bryce and Kimberly Bezner, Chase McKee, and Kiley McKee; and twenty great grandchildren.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Ware and Hospice for the wonderful care they provided to Joyce.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the funeral home and requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Snack Pak 4 Kids.
