Joanne Charlotte Garrett, 78, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.

A memorial for Joanne will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Grace Church in Amarillo, Texas.   Pastor Scott Davey will be officiating.

Joanne was born on April 20, 1940 in Pocatello, Idaho to Homer and Erma Davis.  She married Tom Garrett, Jr. on March 22, 1961.  During their first few years of marriage, Joanne and Tom lived in numerous western states while Tom worked for Rexall Drug Company.  Later on, they settled in Oklahoma where together, they owned and operated several grocery stores.

Joanne enjoyed traveling to see the beautiful fall foliage in Arizona and New Mexico.  She took tremendous pride in her flower gardens and could grow magnificent Hydrangeas.  Joanne was famous for baking lasagna, “orange stuff”, and pumpkin pies.  By far though, Joanne’s greatest passion was found in teaching women’s bible studies and studying God’s Word.  While living in Burns Flat, Oklahoma, Joanne was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. While there, she was instrumental in starting Vacation Bible School and women’s bible studies.  Joanne also loved music. She frequently sang solos especially during the Christmas season.  Joanne loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus above everything. She was a member of Grace Church in Amarillo, Texas.

Her parents Homer and Erma Davis preceded Joanne in death.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Tom Garrett, Jr. of the home, 2 sons, Patrick Garrett of the home and Tommy Garrett and wife, Pam of Amarillo, 2 granddaughters, Kaitlin Garrett and Karoline Garrett both of Amarillo, one grandson, Zachary Garrett and wife, Haley, along with one great granddaughter of Lubbock.  One brother, Garry Davis of Salt Lake City, Utah, also survives Joanne.

The family of Joanne wishes to extend our sincerest thanks to Linda, Jackie, Isabella, and Kylie of The Heritage for their unsurpassed kindness and care of Joanne.  The family also would like to thank, Open Heart Hospice for their help and respect during these last few weeks.
