Hazel Patricia Samuels – March 18, 2018

Patricia Samuels died in Carrollton, Texas on March 18, 2018, one day after her 88th birthday.  Preceding her was her husband William C. (Sam) Samuels, her parents Hazel and LB Herring, Jr., her brothers Howard G. Herring and his wife Inita and LB (Red) Herring, III and his wife Virginia.  

 Pat was born in Beaumont, Texas and attended public schools.  She also attended The University of Texas.  She married in Memphis, Tennessee on June 3, 1950.  She is survived by her daughters Patti Heath and her husband Bobby, Nancy McKinley, and Connie Sue Heath and her husband Gene; grandchildren David Edmondson and his wife Rachel, TJ Edmondson and his wife Katy, Cassie Benzenberg and her husband Hank, Sara Horn and her husband Justin, Nicki Jackson and her husband Randy and Chase Reid; great grandchildren Jaxon Davis, Magnolia Edmondson, Grace Horn, Stella Horn, Olivia Edmondson, Ruby Edmondson, and Hank Benzenberg, Jr. She counted all these blessings along with her brother in-law Ronnie Samuels and his wife Jan and her nieces, nephews, and friends.

 Pat enjoyed a career in the insurance business.  She served as Directress of the Altar Guild at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church and President of the Auxiliary at Northwest Texas Hospital.

 Services will be on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 3:00 pm at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4714 NW 4th in Amarillo, Texas.  The family suggests memorials be made to St. Peter’s or the State of Texas Talking Books Program, PO Box 12516 Austin, Texas 78711-2516.

    Some of my fondest childhood memories include growing up across the street from the Samuels family. Pat was always so sweet to me and also made the BEST Coke floats! Such a dear woman, she will be missed by so many.
