Ethel Elizabeth Baker Badrow, 95, of Amarillo died Wednesday, July 11, 2018.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 16, 2018, in the sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Murray Gossett officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Ethel Baker was born to Mabel and Mark Baker on May 6, 1923. She was raised in Hennessey, Oklahoma. After graduating with honors from high school, Ethel attended Oklahoma A&M College for her freshman year only. Ethel’s college career was cut short by WWII. She went to work at the Sub-Depot at Enid Army Air Force Base, Enid, Oklahoma. Ethel was transferred to two other Army Air Force bases in Independence, Kansas and Waco, Texas. While in Independence, Ethel met and married Thomas (Tom) E. Badrow on March 19, 1945.
Ethel and Tom moved to Amarillo where they worked side by side in Tom’s construction company, Tom Badrow General Contracting. Ethel was active in church activities serving as president of the Presbyterian Women’s Association and in Camp Fire Girls receiving the Camp Fire leadership award.
Ethel was predeceased by her son, Kirk Badrow, in 2009; and her husband, Tom Badrow, in 2016.
She is survived by a son, Alan Badrow, and a daughter, Karen Enchelmeyer, four grandsons: Shawn and Shane Badrow, Zachary Badrow, and Richard Enchelmeyer, one granddaughter, Elizabeth Badrow and one great-grandson, Zane Badrow.
She will always be remembered as a child of God, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and a faithful friend.
