Doris Marie Wrather Moore, 85, of Amarillo, went to her eternal home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday afternoon, May 18th at St. Stephen’s UMC, 4600 S. Western St. Amarillo, TX. with Dr. Stan Cosby and Dr. Jim Smith officiating. Private burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Doris graduated from Amarillo High School in 1950. She married Doyle Moore on May 14, 1952 and they were blessed with two children, Diane and David. She graduated from Draughn’s Business College and worked for years for The American Quarter Horse Association. She was also Secretary of the American Paint Horse Association.
From 1970 until 2016, Doris managed and then owned Custom Trophies and was known throughout the Panhandle for her warm and gracious spirit and service. She was a member of the Amarillo Rotary Club and was the 1986 Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Business Woman of the Year.
Doris was a loving wife, daughter and sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and was a deeply committed Christian. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s UMC in Amarillo, the Agape Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her son, David and is survived by her husband, Doyle; sisters Anne Stevenson & Mary Kay Tingle; brother and sister-in-law Wayne and LaRae Browne; daughter Diane Martyn (Stephen); grandchildren Robyn Scott (Sean); Kyndra Martyn (Brian); Dr. Ryan Martyn (Michelle); and nine great grandchildren: Clara, Collin, Chloe, & Caleb Scott; Avery, Austin Hagy; and Ryder, Luke, and Barrett Martyn; nieces, April Baucom, Pam Johnson, and Janna Arps; and nephew Alan Stevenson.
