Donald Norman Sheffield, 68, of Amarillo died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2012.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at Saint Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Jim Smith officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Donald was born Oct. 21, 1944, in Greenville, S.C., to Luther Clinton and Carolyn Ruth Sheffield. He married Anita Somerville on Aug. 1, 1970, in New Orleans.
Donald was an engineer for Santa Fe Railroad, where he retired after 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a mentor for Amarillo Independent School District and was a member of St Stephen United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marsha Foster; two brothers, John Sheffield and Edward Sheffield; and a grandson, Jacob Donald Freyer.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Sheffield; a daughter, Jessica Alexis Freyer of Amarillo; a son, Chris Sheffield and wife Tricia of Amarillo; three brothers, Luther Sheffield Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., David Sheffield of Orlando, Fla., and Michael Sheffield of Mobile, Ala.; a sister, Carolyn Scales of Biloxi, Miss.; and four grandchildren, Ian Freyer, Madison Freyer, Madilynn Sheffield and Molly Sheffield.
