Dianne Arlene Jones, 74, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, and her husband, Gerald R. “Bugs” Jones, Jr., 73, also of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013.
A memorial gathering will be from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013, at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Dianne was born June 8, 1939, in Des Moines, IA, to Vear and Lorraine Douglas. She had worked as a pharmacy tech for Northwest for many years. Dianne enjoyed her Friday night supper group for many years and loved being with her family and friends.
Bugs was born June 18, 1940, in Des Moines, IA, to Opal and the late Gerald R. “Jay” Jones, Sr. Following his service in the Navy he worked as a switchman for Rock Island Railroad and Burlington Railroad. He spent his retirement working in his woodshop building toys for his grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lori Tocco and husband Joe of Yorba Linda, CA and Kim Lacey and husband Tim of Amarillo; Bugs’ mother, Opal Jones of Des Moines, IA; his two children, Dick Jones and wife Peggy of MN and Tammy Johnson and husband Jeff of IA; Dianne’s two brothers, Jeff and Steve Douglas, both of Georgia; Bugs’ sisters, Judy Hall and husband Chuck of IA and Shirley Burns of CA; four grandchildren, Brayden Lacey, Nick and Nolan Leo and Jenny Harmon; and a great-grandson, Jack Leo.
