Clyde "Spot" Laurence – August 11, 2012


Clyde “Spot” Laurence, 95, of Claude died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, in Claude United Methodist Church with Dan Carter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Clyde was born Nov. 26, 1916, in Iredell to William Benjamin Lee and Oma Belle Laurence. He married Jackie Shafer on Jan. 17, 1963, in Amarillo. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force during World War II.
Clyde worked for the Texas Highway Department, where he did maintenance. He was a member of the Claude Masonic Lodge #719, Scottish Rite and York Rite. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Claude.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackie.
Survivors include a nephew, J.C. Saunders and wife Rita of Follett; and two nieces, Sue Judd and husband Regie of Graham and Sharlene Marsh of Garden City, Kan.
The family suggests memorials be to Claude United Methodist Church, 400 Trice St., Claude, TX 79019; or a favorite charity.
