Carol Boughner, 72, of Amarillo and formerly of Dumas, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.
Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas. Celebration of life services will follow at 2:00 p.m., at Mescalero Baptist Church in Amarillo, 13330 Mescalero Trail, with Pastor Kevin Oakley officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Carol was born February 5, 1946, in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Harold and Lillian (Huett) Peters. She married her husband of 54 years, Robert Boughner on June 5, 1964, in Dumas.
She worked in Dumas at Sunset Elementary for 16 years and at Wal-Mart for 21 years.
Carol was 62 when she accepted the Lord as her savior and became a Christian on May 18, 2008. She loved Jesus, her family, sports (mostly football and golf), traveling, camping, and music.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Boughner, of Amarillo; daughter, Kim and husband Gary Smith, of Amarillo; son, Jason Boughner, grandson, Skylar Boughner and granddaughter, Jordan Boughner, all of Plano; nephew, David Arthur Peters and wife Jamie, of Saginaw; great-nephew, Dawson Peters, of Saginaw; and sister-in-law, Helen Arend of Hurst.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Mescalero Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
