Annie Mae Spear – January 5, 2018

Annie Mae Spear, 83, passed away, Friday, January 5, 2018, in the Ware Memorial Nursing Home in Amarillo.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018, at Coulter Road Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Jim Benton officiating.  Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Annie was born on December 17, 1934, in Wellington, Texas, to James Lucian and Ellen Blades Souder.  Annie attended school at Quail, Texas and later attended Draughon’s Business School.  She retired from the Texas School System as a secretary, after 27 years.
She enjoyed taking care of her family, sewing, cooking and going to her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.  She also enjoyed golfing and traveling after retirement.  She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority.
Annie married Paul Spear on October 4, 1952, in Wellington, Texas at her mother’s home.
Annie is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul Spear; a son, Dennis Spear and wife Katie; a daughter, Edie Watson and husband Russell; grandchildren, Luke Watson and wife Lisa, Travis Watson and wife Kristina and Kayla Spear; great-grandchildren, Gage, Reagan and Landen Watson, Garin and Morgan Watson, Hailey and Courtney Keith.  She is also survived by three sisters, Ruby Dell Pitts, Tommie and husband Zeke Neeley, Connie and husband Ted James, one brother, Perry and wife Carol Souder; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Lucian and Ellen Beatrice Souder; one brother, J.L. Souder; and five sisters, Bonnie Joyce Souder, Mary Ellen Mitchell, Margaret Reeves, Frances Sasser and Betty Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to Coulter Road Baptist Church, 4108 South Coulter St., Amarillo, Texas 79109; or the Alzheimer’s Association, 5410 Bell Street #411, Amarillo, Texas 79101 or Alz.org.
The family would like to thank BSA Hospice of the Southwest and Ware Memorial for her good care.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-5:30 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018, at the funeral home.

    I’m so sorry to hear about Annie. I was unable to attend the service due to a recent foot surgery and follow-up doctors appointment. I so enjoyed knowing Annie. She was a sweet special person and will be missed.
