William Henry Spies – June 10, 2012

William Henry Spies, 63, of Amarillo, TX died June 10, 2012.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with the Rev. Dan Anderson, pastor of First Christian Church in Perryton, officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
William “Bill” was born in Seiling Okla.   He was raised in Booker, where he graduated in 1967.  He married Royce Taliaferro Spies in 1970.
Bill served in the Navy as a medical corpsman from 1967 to 1969.  After his service, he received an Associates degree from Oklahoma State Tech in 1971.  Bill Spies had a long career in the printing industry that included owning and operating Perryton printing from 1981-1988 with his father Dwight Spies.  He left the printing industry to pursue a career in education.  After many years of teaching at Hereford High School, he continued in his passion for helping students.   He assisted many youth in furthering their education at Wyoming Tech and finished his career as an Admission Counselor for Job Corps.
He was preceded in death by his mother Norma Jean Spies and twin brother Randolph Wells Spies.
Survivors include his wife, Royce Spies, two daughters, Cydney Chadick of Perryton and Erin Spies James of Plano; his father, Dwight Spies of Perryton; a sister, Debbie Onorofskie; two grandchildren, Alec Chadick and Chandler Chadick; and 5 nieces.
The family suggests memorials to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 50433, Amarillo, TX 79159; and Kiowa County Senior Citizen’s Center in Booker, TX.
