William Dean Harrison

William Dean Harrison, 60, of Amarillo, Texas passed away after a seven-year battle with ALS on January 16, 2020.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Harrison residence, 6408 Wentworth Drive. Come and go from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2020 at Hillside Christian Church Chapel with Tommy Politz officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Amarillo.

Dean was born on March 24, 1959, in Amarillo, TX to Bill and Lynda Harrison. Dean attended Texas Tech University and West Texas State University, earning a degree in business and finance. He married the love of his life, Jeanne, on June 23, 2001. Dean was employed by Plaska for the past seven years.

Dean loved the Lord and was a proud member of Hillside Christian Church and the Congenial Sunday School class. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing watching the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and the Texas Rangers. Spending time with his friends and family was his favorite past time. Dean will be remembered most for his jokes, humor, and love for life.

Dean is survived by his wife, Jeanne Harrison of Amarillo; daughter, Holly Gillispie and husband Kevin of Bushland; son, Kyle Harrison and wife Joni of Amarillo; daughter, Marissa Helton and husband JW of Allison; 5 grandchildren, Tristen, Baylor, Tylar, Addaliya, and Avery; brother, Greg Harrison and wife Robbie of Amarillo; sister, Debbie Farner and husband Randy of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Houston Methodist Neurological Institute/ALS Clinic 6560 Fannin St. Suite 802 Houston Tx. 77030 or Hillside Christian Church 6100 Soncy Rd. Amarillo Tx. 79119.

  1. I always enjoyed talking with Dean when he was at Royal, or about what the kids were doing across the street at the school.

  2. So sorry to hear about Dean passing away. Growing up with Dean at River Road Jr. High was such a pleasure. He was truly a great man! I know he is looking down from heaven. You will be missed! Prayers to his family during this difficult time!

  4. I will always remember Dean as that mischievous boy next door. It was fun watching the Harrison kids grow into fine adults with families of their own. Dean will be missed by many who enjoyed his friendliness and humor. Jeanne, our hearts are with you and all of Dean’s family.
