William Buddy Collins, age 78, of Amarillo passed away April 16, 2021. Buddy was born in Carlisle, PA on 09/19/42 to Allen J and Kathleen Collins. His family later moved to San Antonio where Buddy graduated high school. He entered the US Army following graduation and upon his return from the service, he attended Texas Lutheran College in Seguin and then Texas A & M to receive his Masters. Buddy taught, coached and was an administrator in several Texas school districts including San Antonio, Seguin, Midland, Ingram, and Claude. He retired from the education profession while at Claude ISD as the principal of the high school and middle school in June 2004.

Buddy’s love of education and his students was a priority. He truly enjoyed walking the halls, monitoring the parking lot, attending sporting events, and meeting with students in his office (not always a good thing). ln his spare time, Buddy enjoyed reading, playing golf, woodworking and walking.

Buddy is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard Collins, and his walking buddy, “Aggie.” He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Shell Collins, son, Chase Collins, brother, Allen (Lila) Collins, step-children, Lisa Hohertz, Bass Hohertz, nieces, Randa Collins, Lana Herrera, and nephew, Scott Collins.

A memorial service is planned at a later date. The family request donations be made to a charity of choice.
