Bill was born on January 4, 1943 in Brownwood, Texas to Elsie (Prater) Comerford and Alphous Barkley Comerford. He moved to Amarillo as a child with his mother and grandmother. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1962 and attended Amarillo College. He joined the U.S. Air Force as a medic and served during Vietnam. Bill was formerly married to Patricia Ann Quillin, who preceded him in death. He worked more than thirty-five years in medical sales throughout the Texas Panhandle. He was a member of Hillside Christian Church and was one of the founders of the singles ministry at Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He also attended Tascosa Road Fellowship. Bill was a member of Tascosa Country Club, where he was an avid tennis player. He also enjoyed skiing, watching sports and played a mean game of chess.
Bill will be remembered for his friendly disposition, generous spirit, compassion and always being quick with a joke. His life was one of total devotion to his children, Steven Barkley Comerford and Julie Ann Comerford, who were first and foremost in his heart. His life also received profound fulfillment through his relationship with Danita McAnally. He looked forward to time spent with loyal friends and in particular to the October wedding of his daughter to David Michael Warren. He had the rare ability to see value in each and every person.
