Wesley Barton, 88, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 20, 2012 in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Roger Hubbard, pastor, Lake Tanglewood Community Church officiating. Military Rites by DAV Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Barton was born Feb. 28, 1923 in Childress to William and Eula Barton. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He married Juanita Elliott in April of 1949. They were married for 54 years. He worked at the SPS Power Plant for thirty-four years. Mr. Barton belonged to the Eddy County Rescue Squad and Reserve Police Department in Carlsbad, NM. He married Lanita Barton on Oct. 17, 2003 in Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mae Smith, Ruth Hale and Elsie Vinyard; and two brothers, George Barton and Pete Barton.
Survivors include his wife, Lanita Barton, of Amarillo; sons, Rodney Barton of Driftwood and Ed Barton and wife Kathy of Tulia; a stepson, Ken Barton and wife Carla of Amarillo; three brothers, O.J. Barton and Tommy Barton, both of Amarillo, and Royce Barton of Venus; four sisters, Opal Howerton of Seguin, Myrtice Chase of Odessa, and Helen Dixon and Peggy Bull, both of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Bryan and Berkett; and four great-grandchildren.
