Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, Dec. 9, 2013, in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brian Hesse, pastor and the Rev. David Schatte, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Weldon was born Aug. 6, 1925, in Abilene to Elgin and Ruby Hill. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 through 1945 during World War II. Weldon worked for Ponca Wholesale Mercantile for 47 years.
He married Mary K. Chappell on Dec. 26, 1978, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Amarillo, who preceded him in death on Feb. 9, 2010.
He loved his Lord and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
Survivors include a brother, Bob Hill of Gladewater; ten daughters, Jane Schiavoni, Susan Baxter and husband Eddie, Mary Jeanne Wesling and husband John, Sue Busbee and husband Lee, Lisa Norton and husband Charles, Cathie Ladd and husband Kent, Joanna Oliver and husband Doug, Elizabeth Chappell, Sara Cadwell and husband Mike and Andrea Price and husband Scott; three sons, Charles Farra and wife Stephanie, Joe Chappell and wife Natalie and Paul Hill and wife Catalina; 36 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 5005 I-40 West, Amarillo, Texas, 79106.
Family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at the funeral home.
