Wazetta Dickey – January 22, 2015

Dickey Obit PhotoWazetta Dickey, of Amarillo, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, January 22, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 26, 2015, at Paramount Baptist Church with Pastors Lance Herrington and Victor Miller (Wazetta’s son-in-law) officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Wazetta was born in Robstown, TX and grew up in Dumas, TX.  It was there she met the love of her life, Jerry Dickey.  They were married for 56 years and together had three beautiful daughters – Theresa Miller and husband Victor of Amarillo, Chandra Dickey who is now in Heaven, and Jerri Lynn Northcutt of Austin, TX.  She has four grandchildren – Joy Urlaub and husband Brandon of Lubbock, TX; Landon Miller and wife Erin of Amarillo; Blair Dickey of Amarillo; and Brennen Northcutt of Austin, TX.  She has two great-grandchildren – Barrett and Analeigh Urlaub.  Wazetta is also survived by three sisters and two brothers – Peggy Miller, Doris Stout, Barbara Drinkard, Gary Parker, and Johnny Parker.

Wazetta had a precious relationship with Jesus Christ.  Her greatest legacy will be her prayers that will continue to be answered on behalf of all who received her prayer support.  She spent her entire life serving her husband, daughters, grandchildren, and siblings.  Expressing and demonstrating unconditional love toward her family and friends will have a lasting impact on countless lives.  Wazetta and Jerry loved hosting family and church gatherings at their home.

  2. Wazetta was the epitome of “gracious lady”. Our love and prayers go to Jerry and their families. We have many wonderful memories of the two of you, and know that on many days the memories are what sustains us. May God Bless all of you.

  4. I remember Wazzy from school as-the-beautiful young lady as-the-picture denotes her-still-being. From experience of having walked-this-path for 13-years, lean heavily on-our-Lord and He-will-see you through. Grieve-as-you must, not-as-others will-say-is right,wrong or different. It-is-pathways, not-a-pathway as everyone must walk their own so-there-are many. May God bless you each, strengthen you and hold you closely.
