Wayne Catching – March 2, 2013


Wayne Catching, 92, of Amarillo died Saturday, March 2, 2013.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 9, 2013, in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jo Roberts Mann and the Rev. Dr. Robert Pace officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Catching was born Sept. 20, 1920, in Lorenzo.  He graduated from the University of Texas and was employed in Houston as an accountant by Cameron Iron Works.  His work allowed him to travel extensively in Europe and Asia. When he moved to Amarillo, he worked as an accountant for Catching’s Prescriptions for 25 years.
He loved visiting New York City, where he attended operas, Broadway shows and art museums.  Wayne loved to read, go to movies, and was an avid bridge player.  He was a longtime member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Amarillo.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Valentinis-Dee; and his brother, Doyle Catching.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1601 S Georgia St, Amarillo, TX 79102.
