Wayne Cartrite – September 24, 2017

Wayne Cartrite Jr., 64, of Dumas, died Sunday, September 24, 2017.
Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at First Christian Church with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be at Northlawn Memorial Gardens.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas, 500 N. Maddox Ave.
Wayne was born on March 5, 1953 in Amarillo to Wayne and Carolyn Cartrite.  He graduated from Sunray high school and had worked for over 40 years as a heavy machine operator at Valero.  He had volunteered for both the Dumas Volunteer Fire Dept. and the Fire Brigade at Valero for over 25 years.  He was a member of First Christian Church.
He married Robbie Martin on Oct. 19, 1985 in Silverton.
Wayne was preceded in death by a brother, Kirk Cartrite.
He is survived by his wife, Robbie Cartrite of Dumas; two sons, Tanner Cartrite of Ft. Worth and Tatum Cartrite and wife Savanah of Dumas; his parents, Wayne and Carolyn Cartrite of Sunray; a sister, Vicki Bowling of Canadian; a brother, Dalton Cartrite of Sunray; and two grandsons, Ayden and Jarrett.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the Dumas Volunteer Fire Dept., 106 N. Bliss, Dumas, Texas  79029.

  1. So sorry for your loss. Wayne was one of the first people I met when moving to Dumas. Oh gosh he always gave me a hard time. I’m sure he will be missed by so many. Prayers for healing.

  2. I am very sorry to hear of Wayne’s passing. I did not know of it until a few minutes ago or I would have attended the service. Wayne and I ran together on the MCHD volunteer EMS service. He was affectionately known as ” The Driver “. He was a jovial and dedicated man, and I know he will be missed by all who knew him.

  3. So very sorry to hear about Wayne. He was a good friend, and a good man and we will miss him. Keeping Robbie and all of the family in my prayers.

  4. I met Wayne years ago while working at the YMCA . I taught him how to swim! He was the nicest man! Praying for his family.
