Viola Mata Jimenez, 74, of Amarillo died on Sunday, April 10, 2011.
A rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.  Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Jose Gomez, officiating.  Burial will be at Llano Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Viola was born on September 10, 1936 in Mosquero, New Mexico to Pedro and Vicentita Mata.  She married Juan Evaristo Jimenez on October 1, 1953 in Tucumcari, New Mexico.  He preceded her in death on October 31, 1994.
Viola, also known as “Wela” was so full of life.  Not a day went by that she was not either laughing or smiling.  She believed in helping all people even if you were too proud to ask.  Wela loved to spend time with her great grandchildren, as she would say “they are the only thing that keeps me going”.  She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
Survivors include five sons, Julian Jimenez of Amarillo, Evaristo “Goo” Jimenez of Tucson, Arizona, Arthur Jimenez of Fort Worth, Fidel Jiminez and Benjamin Jiminez, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Josephine Melissa Jimenez of Amarillo; four brothers, Nestor Mata and Henry Mata, both of Amarillo, Carlos Mata of Phoenix, Arizona and Pat Mata of Amarillo; two sisters, Angie Mata of Portland, Oregon and Lorina Honeycutt of Amarillo; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and twins on the way.
