Vianna Pace, 83, of Amarillo, TX died Monday, May 3, 2021.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Linvell Tisdale of Bykota Baptist Church officiating.  Burial will be private.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Vianna was born June 23, 1937, in Childress, TX to Ray and Sylvia Melton.  She worked for State Farm Insurance and Jim Melton for years, and for a time at First National Bank and Panhandle Savings.  Vianna was a member of Bykota Baptist Church.

Vianna was loved by all who knew her. She loved the Lord and showed His love to all she came to know. She lived life with joy, she loved to cook, sew and grew the most beautiful plants and flowers every year. She loved her church and was always on the lookout to give a hand to anyone in need.

Her biggest joy in life was being a mother to Rusty and Cindy and the most special Nana to all of her grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to spend time together and made the most amazing meals to take care of everyone. You would never leave Nana’s without a full tummy and if she came to your house you could bet she had a covered dish in her hands.  There will never be a yummier chocolate pie, a sweeter la-la-la song to a fussy baby, or a memory made that we will not wish we could share with her.

Nana, your legacy will be treasured always.

She was preceded in death by a son, Rusty Gollihugh, and a brother, Jim Melton.

Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Langen and husband Jay, of Canyon; a brother, Elwood Melton, of Amarillo, TX; a sister-in-law, Barbara Melton, of Granbury, TX; grandchildren, Dane Langen, of West Columbia, TX, Ashleigh Manley and husband Matt, of Canyon, TX, Abbie Bell and husband Dalton, of Canyon, TX, and Alee Friemel and husband Trevor of Panhandle, TX, Reid Langen, of Canyon, TX, Gracie Thorp and husband R.J., of Amarillo, TX, Clay Gollihugh and wife Alisha, of Amarillo, TX, and Luke Palmer and wife Stephanie, of Borger, TX; many nieces and nephews; great-grandchildren, Jake, Zach, Ben, Miles, McCall, Maddie, Boston, Bowen, Romie, Noah, Sloane, Cooper, Grayson, Tobie, Nik, and Henry.

  1. So sorry to hear of Vianna’s passing. We were best friends during our teenage years. There were three of us, Vianna, Jimmie Martin and myself. My memories of our time together is priceless. We all went to a Baptist church in Amarillo and in the first graduating class of Palo Duro High School. My condolences to her family. She was a wonderful person.

  2. Vi was president of the Sunday school class I taught at Bykota. She was so generous with her gifts, her time and talents. Her pies were the best! She made jello for my husband because she knew he loved it. Her precious life will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

  3. From the first time I met Vi, I knew she could be my friend. She was so warm and lovely it was easy to love her. I know how much she cared for her family and was generous to all who knew her. Vi was beautiful on the inside as well as the outside and her laughter was joyful. She will be so missed on this side of heaven, but in heaven she will be welcomed with open arms, especially by Jim.

  4. I worked with Vianna for 8 years at Jim Melton’s State Farm Insurance. She was such a joy and an even greater Blessing to have her as my friend. I will miss you!
