Velma Francis-July 20, 2011

Velma Francis, 73, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Francis was born on September 15, 1937 in Wheeler, Texas to Neal and Rose Davis.  She graduated from Erick High School.  She married her high school sweetheart, Jack Francis on July 20, 1956 in Erick, Oklahoma.  They moved to Amarillo and raised their children.  They became partners in MF Automotive where she worked as the office manager until her retirement. They built their retirement home and she took care of her husband.  Mrs. Francis loved sewing, photography and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Richmond and Preston Davis.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Francis of Amarillo; three sons, Mark Francis and wife Gail, Kim Francis and Lindal Francis and wife Connie, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Teena Kochendarfer and husband Kurt of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren, Jeff Helton of Amarillo, Chris Helton and wife Natasha of Amarillo, Brandon Francis and wife Shauna of Spring, TX, Chelcee Francis of Amarillo, Jessica Masanotti and husband Nick, Adam Kochendarfer, Alyssa Kochendarfer and Kristina Kochendarfer, all of Phoenix; a brother, Odell Davis and wife Barbara of Amarillo; five sisters, Ruby Brown of Borger, Vineta Weiss and husband Glenn of Shamrock, Bettie Kirkland and husband James of Pampa, Linda Hall of Amarillo. Johnnie McGee and husband Ted of Sanford and eight great grandchildren.

  1. I read about Velma in the paper this morning. I graduated from Erick HS in 1959. My sister is Carol Williams who graduated in 1956. I recall her talking about Velma from time to time. Sorry I didn’t know you folks lived in Amarillo. I’m sure Carol would have loved contacting her when she visited here. God Bless your family during this time.
