Vada Ophelia Odell, 96, of Amarillo, TX passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 14, 2019, at Second Baptist Church with Pastor Wayne Griffin officiating.  Burial will be private.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Vada was born March 11, 1923, in McLean, TX.  She was a graduate of McLean High School and Draughon’s Business College.  Vada married Ernest C. Odell on November 18, 1950.  She retired after 35 years as office manager for Drs. Garre and Marsalis.  She was a long-time member of Second Baptist Church.  Vada loved the Lord, her family, and her many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, Robert L. and Eleanor Appling; a son, Clint Odell; a brother, Hobby Appling; and a sister, Vi Timmons.

Vada is survived by two daughters, Nettie Rangel and husband Coney, of Purisima, Mexico, and Kerry Hood and husband Steve, of Amarillo, TX; two sons, Lee Odell, of Amarillo, and John “Bob” Odell and wife Renae, of Lincoln, NE; a sister, Bobbie Alexander, of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Chris Christian, Brady Christian, Eric Hood, Alan Hood, Bryan Odell, Michael Odell, and Elise Odell; four great-granddaughters; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials to Second Baptist Church, 419 N. Buchanan, Amarillo, TX 79107; or a favorite charity.
