Tom Kendrick-July 13, 2011

Tom Kendrick, 90, of Claude died on Wednesday, July 13, 2011.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, Texas.  A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. in Amarillo with Dick Gravley, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Claude, officiating.  Military Rites are by DAV Chapter 26.   Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Tom was born on July 11, 1921 in Tucumcari, New Mexico to Vivan and Alice Kendrick.  He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS McCall in the South Pacific during WWII.  Tom was a member of the DAV and First Baptist Church in Claude.  He had lived in Claude for over sixty years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Kendrick, two sisters, a brother and a grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanette Cramer and husband Eddie of Amarillo and Margie Amos and husband Mike of Canyon; two sons, Bobby Kendrick and wife Marcie of Vernon and Roger Kendrick and wife Sue of Claude; a brother, Oscar Kendrick and wife Carolyn of Fresno, CA; a sister-in-law, Barbara Kendrick of Fresno, CA; eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Community Center at the VA Nursing Home, 6010 Amarillo Blvd. West, Amarillo, TX 79106.

  4. Just wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to your family. I am a long time friend of Roy’s daughter Charlotte. She loves her uncle very much and we have been praying for him for a while now.

  5. I have a great memory. We went to visit and uncle Tom and Aunt Dorothyh made breakfast. More food on one table than i had ever seen. You had a very big heart. Must run in the Kendrick family. Now you are with my dad (Roy Kendrick) passed away April 2nd of this year. I miss you both. Love you both. I will see you again someday. My thoughts are with all the family and friends near and far.

  8. To all of the families of Tom…G-Pa was the best neighbor. So sweet and kind!! God has an awesome Man up there with him. Brandon & Trent…he is looking down on each of you and all of your kiddos and what a blessing..our thoughts and prayers to everyone in the family. I feel blessed to have known such a kind man as Tom!!

  11. Love to all. Uncle Tom will be miss by all of us. We love him and will always miss him. I can remember the time Roy and I would visit. I could feel the glow in his heart. It just pour out to welcome and let us know how special we were in his heart. Tom we will miss you but keep a eye on all of us. We need your guidance as we travel on the road.

    You allways new how to put a smile on our faces. I will never forget what a big loving heart you had always trying to help someone out if it was chocolate milk or the stuffed animals you brought by for heath and i. You always had a smile on your face and those big blue eyes just lit up the world around you. The stories you shared were always amazing down to the very end. These are the memories that will be cherished for ever. thank you and may you rest in peace.
