A celebration of his life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, May 14, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mr. Burch was born Oct. 17, 1930, to Henry and Rose Burch in a dug-out house on the original family farm south of Amarillo.
He was raised on the current family farm where he resided. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1948.
Tolbert married his beloved Bernadine Leven on July 13, 1985. She preceded him in death in 2010.
Survivors include: son, David of Aurora, CO; daughter, Brenda Knight of Spring Branch, TX; grand-daughters, Nicole Rangel, Brandy Serna & Janna Schaeffer; great-grandsons, Ryan Serna,
Alejandro Rangel & Anthony Schaeffer; great-granddaughter, Ava Serna; and very special friends, Ralph and Susan Birdwell, John & Bonnie Dodson and one sister, Mary Hensen.
Tolbert was preceded in death by son, Daniel Burch and great-grandson, Christopher Matherly.
Tolbert was a man of many talents, including being a great jokester and master of B.S. He had worked as a bookkeeper, wholesale delivery person, carpenter, plumber, mechanic, dry wall hanger,
painter, farmer, gun slinger, cowboy, general handyman, and possessed many other skills and trades.
The family sends special thanks to the staffs of The Texan Nursing Home and Odyssey Hospice for helping him on his final journey.
