Tina Hedger, 51, of Amarillo, TX passed away peacefully at BSA Hospital on Monday, January 11, 2021, after a short battle with cancer. She entered Heaven to be with her Savior and she was reunited with her loving son, Doug.

Services will be at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, January 16, 2021, in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Tina was born on August 20, 1969, to Tommy and Ora Lee Hodges in Tulia, TX, that is how she got the nickname “Tulia Rose”. The family moved from Happy, TX to Amarillo, TX when Tina was 5 years old. Tina attended Amarillo schools and enjoyed participating in softball. Her family and friends remember her infectious smile that lit up the room and made everyone feel welcome.

Tina had many favorite pastimes, she loved shooting pool and going to casinos to try her hand at blackjack and the slots. She loved to go fishing and enjoy a relaxing time. Tina enjoyed bowling which she learned from her parents, but it was the time she spent with her family and friends that she enjoyed the most. She was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, that was loved by all. Tina was also a loyal fan of OU and the Chicago Bears.

At the time of her death, Tina was employed with the Blue Cross/Blue Shield working alongside her dear friend Rhonda.

She was preceded in death by a son, Tommy Douglas (Doug) Purkey; and grandparents, Ted Lichtenberger, Bessie Hougland, and Ben and Ruby Hodges.

Tina leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Dylan Hedger and Drayton Hedger; parents, Tommy and Ora Lee Hodges; brother, J.T. Hodges (Pam); niece, Nicole Dunnam (Rocky); nephews, Zachary and Colton Hodges; cousins, Ted, Lisa, Sabrina, and Missy; and uncles, Shane Stowe, and Dave Hodges.

  2. I had the oppurtunity to call Tina a friend and co-worker. I am speechless hearing about her passing. She was a wonderful spirit that I am honored to have known. My heart goes out to her family. RIP until we meet again my friend.

  4. My beautiful fav!!! My heart is just so broken!! You are more than just a friend to me you are my sister / mom. You are always there for me. Even when i was prego with X, you would go asst me with weird cravings you would go to the store for me. We was suppose to go on our dinner date with our Rhonda…. Them tacosssssss!!!! Hahaha… I freaking love the crap out of you my beautiful fav!!!!! U will always and forever be with me!!!

  6. Tina had such a beautiful soul. Always willing to tell everyone the truth, good and bad, and that is what I always admired most about her. She had a way with words that always made me rethink my life decisions and look at everything from a new perspective. Although we grew apart these past few years I always looked at her as a woman of honesty and integrity, a role model in life, and a friend that could be counted on regardless of how long it had been since we last spoke. She was always there for anyone in need.

    I will miss you sweet lady.

  7. Sammy and I are so very sorry that Tina is no longer with us, but we are joyful knowing that she is with our Lord and Savior and her son Doug. We’re praying that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Amen.
