Thurman Urquhart-August 8, 2011

Thurman Urquhart, 81, of Amarillo, died Monday, August 8, 2011.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Llano Cemetery with Mark Urquhart officiating.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Thurman was born on June 9, 1930 in Wellington, Texas to A.D. and Mable Urquhart.  He drove a truck for Riss & Transcon and was a member of the Teamsters for over forty years.  He was a member of Southlawn Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Urquhart and son Joe Junior Urquhart.
Survivors include his son, Jerry Thurman Urquhart of Amarillo, TX; brother, Glen Urquhart of Lubbock, TX; two nieces, Cathy Holland of Amarillo and Sandy Brown of Wheeler, TX and many other nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.

  2. Jerry, I am so sorry to hear of this sad news of your Dad. Your Dad and my Daddy drove trucks together way back in the day. You probably dont remember me. We used to come to Palo Duro Canyon and see yall. I remember us all hangin out together cook outs and things. Your parents were so nice. Pleas call me someday soon. I would love to hear from you. I know you are hurting right now. I lost my mama May 14 this year. I would love to hear from you. You are in my prayers.

  3. Jerry- I was saddened to hear your news this week. I will miss Thurman and had hoped we could provide some quality of life with improving his health. The LVN’s who checked him into TTUHSC Internal Med Clinic are all sad for the loss also. I hope you are doing well and I know you will have some
    ocky times ahead. You did well in your efforts to take care of your beloved Dad. Marge Dean

  4. Cathy & family, I am so sorry for your loss. It was an honor to be Thurman’s nurse for several years. I always looked forward to seeing his bright eyes and wonderful smile, and will always hold close to my heart the memories I have of him.
