Thomas (Tommy) Earl Grant-May 18, 2011

Thomas (Tommy) Earl Grant, 74, of Amarillo went to see Jesus on May 18th, 2011.
Services will be at 10 A.M. on Saturday, May 21st,  at Second Baptist Church located at 419 N. Buchanan, Amarillo, Texas, with Charles Jones and Wayne Griffin officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Tommy blessed this earth with his birth on August 22, 1936. He was born in Amarillo. He graduated form Amarillo High School in 1955 where he was active in FFA and participated on the livestock judging team. He married the love of his life, June York, on November 30th, 1963. He owned and operated Grant Construction beginning in 1984, blessing many of those he worked with. He also served on the executive board of the Tri State Fairgrounds from 2000 to 2011. He was a member of Second Baptist Church for 45 years where he served as a Deacon and on several committees. He became a Master Mason in 1971 and belonged to Amarillo Lodge 731 and in 1972 joined the York Rite. He was a member of the Amarillo Rifle and Pistol Club and the NRA.
He loved the Lord and his family first of all. He took honor in serving the Lord daily. He loved the outdoors and taught many kids how to hunt and fish, but most of all, he taught and shared the love of Jesus.
He left behind a legacy of loved ones. His wife June of 48 years, daughter Cynthia Walker and husband Cody of Amarillo, and 2 grandchildren, Dillon and Taylor Walker. Four sisters, Marjorie Barrett, Sandra Skinner and husband Gary, Janet Grant, Sherry Brown and husband Bobby, all of Amarillo. Sister in laws Phyllis Allison and husband Bud, Nonnie York and Dale, brother in laws Terry York and wife Karen, all of Amarillo, Perry York and wife Becky of Canyon, Bruce York and wife Darlene of Kirby, Texas. He was loved by numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces. He was preceded in death by his baby daughter Mary Elizabeth Grant, his parents Earl and Marie Grant, in-laws Hub and Berchie York, brother in law Raymond York, and sister in law Cindy York.
Tommy Grant was a great man of faith and integrity who shared the love of God Almighty to all. He will be truly missed.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Second Baptist Church, 419 N. Buchanan, Amarillo, TX 79107, to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 1301 S. Coulter, Suite 404, Amarillo, TX 79106, or to Texas Oncology, 1000 Coulter, Suite 100, Amarillo, TX 79106.
Family will receive friends at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home on Friday May 20th, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm.
