Thomas "Tom" Howard Lester – February 8, 2012

Thomas “Tom” Howard Lester, 69, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012 in Hillside Christian Church Chapel with Mike Nuthman and Roger Hubbard officiating.  Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mr. Lester was born Feb. 8, 1943 in Wellington to Sam and Jackie Lester.   He married Karen Morris on Aug. 22, 1964 in White Deer.  He graduated from White Deer High School and earned his BS from Texas Tech and his MS from West Texas A&M.  He taught and coached for thirteen years in Olton, Phillips, Shamrock and Pampa before going to work at Pantex in 1979.  He worked as a process engineer until his injury in 2009, which led to his retirement.

He participated in all facets of providing athletic activities for youth.  His love for youth athletics led him to volunteer as a coach and an official. He also served on several boards and sponsored teams and organized events.

He was a very active member of AA since 1987.  Mr. Lester was a member of Hillside Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kem Morris Lester, of Amarillo; two sons, Kipp Lester and wife Kim of Bushland and Kurt Lester and wife Amy of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Kyler, Jake, Krystin and Darby; a brother, Homer E. Lester and wife Sheryl of Lexington; and two sisters, Joy Mills of Stephenville and Nancy Riley and husband Don of Waco.
