Terry Sims-August 8, 2011

Terry Sims, 42, of Amarillo, died Monday, August 8, 2011.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 12, 2011 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Mike Nuthman of Hillside Christian Church officiating.  Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Terry was born on October 7, 1968 in Borger, TX to Bob and Rebecca Sims.  He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1987.  He married LaVonda Kenedy on March 24, 2006 in Amarillo.  He had worked for RSC in equipment sales over 22 years.  He loved hunting, fishing and golfing.  He attended Hillside Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife, LaVonda Sims, a son, William Jacob Sims, a daughter, Kaitlin Nicole Sims, and a step daughter, Kenedy Warrick, all of Amarillo; mother, Rebecca Johnson and husband Tommy of Amarillo; father, Bob Sims and wife Patsy of Fritch, TX; brothers, Michael Sims and wife Holleigh of McKinney, TX and Kelley and wife Kasey Sims of Amarillo; sister, Dena Ott of Borger, TX; step brothers, Lance Johnson of Grapevine, TX, Cory Johnson of San Antonio, TX and Chase Johnson of Phoenix, AZ; and grandmother, Leota Lybarger Buck of Elkhart, KS.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.

  1. Words cannot tell you how sorry I am for your loss. I met Terry when he was small and he and his brother and dad came to visit Michael. I hope that the prayers will help bring you comfort.

After being around Terry, I can see and agree with all the posts above how well he was liked. This was quite a shock finding this out.   13. My sincere condolences to the Sims family–this is certainly a shock. I knew Terry from BJH and was so excited to hear he had married LaVonda who I was friends with at Tascosa. Our prayers go out to their family…he is missed.

  14. I got the news just this morning from my son Bryon. He and Terry were so close as young boys. Terry spent many hours with us doing things that boys do. My heart is heavy and my condolences are extended to his family.

  17. I, also went to school with Terry at Bushland. I had the fortunate opportunity to see him a few times after high school living our lives, being married, and having kids. He will be so deeply missed. He was a very kind person and would not let a person that he knew go by unnoticed. My thoughts and prayers do go out to all his friends and family members.

  19. I, too, knew Terry at Bushland J.H. He was a popular guy for good reason. There was no reason not to love Terry.
    If there is any way that I can help Terry’s family I hope they will reach out to me. He was a dear friend to me and I will be to them as well.
