Ruth Escamilla Malacara, 80, of Amarillo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2019.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., officiated by Reverend Scott L. Raef. Private entombment will take place at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Ruth was born on May 3, 1939 to Thomas and Theresa Escamilla, in Monterey Nuevo Leon Mexico, to later become a citizen and grow up in Amarillo. She married her sweetheart, Paul Malacara Sr. in November of 1957. Her husband Paul passed away in July of 2015, and we know that she is very happy and relieved to join him in heaven.

Ruth was a loving mother, “Lovely” grandmother, and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by two sons, Paul Malacara Jr. and wife Gail, and Robert Malacara and wife Helen; four grandchildren, Mariel Goodgion and husband Jason, Katelyn Wedel and husband Tyler, Amy Malacara and boyfriend Joab Rodriguez, and Roland Malacara and girlfriend Brianna Olivarez, all from Amarillo; one great grandchild, Viviana Malacara, also of Amarillo; five brothers, Tony Escamilla and wife Joyce, Dale Escamilla and wife Mary, Paul Escamilla and wife Rosa, from Amarillo, Santos Escamilla and wife Barbara of Othello, Washington, and Tom Escamilla and wife Linda from Cincinnati, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews that she loved as well.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, and two sisters, Teri Malacara and Judy Mendez from Amarillo.

We will miss her very much as she was a gift in all of our lives, but we know she is in a much better place.

  1. To all of the Malacara family,
    So glad I saw this post about Ruth’s homegoing. I think this is where the saying of “parting is such sweet sorrow. Resting info peace is the reward we love God for in accepting His Son Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Her journey here is over but her legacy is reflected in each of you. To God be the Glory for all that God created in you relationship with her.
