Rudy was born February 14, 1962 in Hereford, Texas to Adolfo and Ophelia Villegas. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1981. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University in 2003.

Rudy worked for the City of Amarillo until his retirement. Retirement isn’t something he would readily accept. He often worked a plethora of side jobs – from security officer at dances, cooking at Fiesta Foods, and driving the Amarillo Bulls hockey team to many victories – which granted him opportunities to meet many people and touch their lives with his humor and kindness. He made an impact everywhere life took him. Rudy’s laughter will roar in our hearts forever.

Rudy loved spending time with his family, especially during holidays. His daughter Ashley (His Koda) and his grandson Gabriel (His Punkin) were his pride and joy. Other favorite pastimes included listening to music of all genres, but especially Motown. He played golf, rode motorcycles, had endless barbecues with his friends and family, and enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was a big fan of Friday night high school football, especially his alma mater, Caprock Longhorns.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Valerie Villegas; a son, Andrew Charles Franklin Villegas; a nephew, David Huynh; a niece, Valerie Villegas; as well as many beloved aunts and uncles.

Survivors include a daughter, Ashley Villegas; grandson Gabriel Villegas;  siblings, Lisa Elgin and husband Larry, Annette Flowers and husband Danny, Sandy Huynh and David Fluche, and Ben Villegas and wife Jackie, all of Amarillo; and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
