Robert Wayne Ferrin – August 9, 2012

Robert Wayne Ferrin, 81, of Amarillo died on Thursday, August 9, 2012.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Bob Ferrin was born in Oklahoma City on April 20, 1931 to Lorene and Horace H. Ferrin. Being raised in Oklahoma City, he graduated from Classin High and went on to attend Oklahoma AM, Oklahoma University and West Texas State University. He served his country well in both the United States Navy and the United States Army.
Bob wore many hats during his career. He served as a Director of North State Bank and Bank of Southwest; he was owner and CEO of 1st National Bank of Rhome. He was a residential homebuilder and commercial contractor in this area for more than fifty years. He built homes within a four state region and served as the 1964 President of the Texas Panhandle Builders Association. He was a long time member of the Amarillo Association of Realtors as a Texas Real Estate Broker and held business as a Mortgage Loan Broker. Bob was always known as a successful businessman. As a young man he worked with Southwestern Public Service Company, over the years he built and sold many successful businesses ranging from real estate to farming, restaurants, furniture stores, car sales and lumber yards. He simply loved doing business and his favorite hobby was flying.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Koletyo Ferrin; two sons, Robert S. Ferrin and wife Janet and Stephen C. Ferrin and wife LaRhonda; three grandchildren, Mitchell Holmes, Nikki Ferrin and Jonathan Ferrin, all of Amarillo; a sister, Miriam Powell and husband Lee of Santa Fe, NM.
The family suggests memorials be made to Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 W. 11th, Amarillo, TX 79101.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
