Robert “Bob” Manning, 70, of Amarillo, TX passed away on December 16, 2020, in Amarillo, Texas.

A memorial celebration of life service is scheduled for 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Trinity Fellowship Church, 5000 Hollywood Rd. Pastor Larry Miles, Bob’s best friend, and Pastor Dr. Howard K. Batson of First Baptist Church will officiate.

Bob was born August 25, 1950, in Fairview, Oklahoma to Robert Manning and Jean (Collins) Manning. He was raised in Great Bend, Kansas. Bob attended Oklahoma University before migrating to Texas. He bought Royal Glass in 1985 which provided Bob with many challenges and great friends. Bob loved a challenge and never saw a job that couldn’t be done, he not only found a way but did each job with excellence.

Bob lived by three main passions—his faith, his family, and his friends. Bob walked and talked about his faith. He ministered to many through his business, the prison ministries, and living his life BIG with and in Jesus Christ. He had three children, two daughters, Schonna and Macey, and one son Collin.

Bob was proud of his daughter Schonna’s many academic accomplishments including obtaining her doctorate in plant biology and becoming a professor at the University of Texas. Macey lives in Amarillo and owns Luxe Modern Realty and Luxe Modern Design, she is a reflection of her dad—-not a job or task that can’t be accomplished. She had a unique and close relationship with her father. Collin is working at Royal Glass and enjoying his adventure there. Bob and Collin enjoyed their many travels together, target shooting, eating good food, and playing pool. They always found time to talk and help each other. His grandkids, Karsten and Emerson provided sporting entertainment in soccer and volleyball and always provided laughter. Bob enjoyed watching Emerson’s college volleyball career. Bob and his family had many fun trips making memories to last a lifetime.

Bob also had a passion for riding Harley’s. He and his friends, 8 Deuce Motorcycle Club, traveled to all four corners of the United States. They enjoyed good rides, many interesting stories, good food, good cigars, and great fellowship. They have ridden over 100,000 miles and accumulated volumes of stories. The riding style of Bob earned him his club name of “Gypsy Bob”.

Bob enjoyed donating his time and talent for raising money to many organizations such as: prison ministries, Faith City Mission, Make a Wish Foundation, and Legion Project. Bob was instrumental in raising the funds and building two chapels–one for the Neal Unit Prison and one for the Clements Prison. These are only a few of the ways and organizations in which he has given his time, talent, and his generosity.

Bob was a man of honesty and integrity. He was a man of God. Bob loved the motto “Life is Good” and lived that life to its fullest. He never said a harsh word about anyone and helped many men whom he never knew. He walked with a proud step and reached out to others with a humbled heart.

Bob is survived by his children, Dr. Schonna Manning and husband Chris Moore of Austin, Macey Manning Solano of Amarillo, and Collin Manning of Amarillo; grandchildren, Karsten Solano and Emerson Solano of Amarillo; sister Sandy Manning Scherlacker and husband Emil Scherlacker of Wichita, Kansas; and sister, Cindy Manning of Edmond, Oklahoma. Bob also leaves behind his sweetheart, Debbie Davis. He is also survived by longtime friends Larry and Becky Miles and their family.

Schonna, Macey, Collin, Karsten, and Emerson would love for you to follow in Bob’s way—make memorials and donations to a charity or church of your choice. Help others and live the motto “Life is Good” because “God is good—all the time”.

2 Corinthians 4:16-18—“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all”.
