Rita Dye Brown – December 8, 2011

Rita Dye Brown, 74, of Amarillo, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, Dec. 12, 2011 in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Jess Little officiating.  Burial will be in Claude Cemetery in Claude.  Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
Mrs. Brown was born June 14, 1937 in Armstrong County to Vernon and Mary Lou Dye.  She graduated from Claude High School and attended West Texas State University.  She married Luther Brown on April 26, 1991.  Mrs. Brown was proud of her rural and agriculture background.  She had a steadfast Christian faith and was an avid student of Chuck Swindoll ministries. She belonged to several service sororities and bridge clubs.  Mrs. Brown enjoyed extensive national and international travel. She cherished her family and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Vernon and Mary Lou Dye and her sister, Sue Dye Jones.
Survivors include her husband, Luther Brown, of Lake Tangelwood; a daughter, Karie Overstreet York and husband Steve of Lubbock; a son, Philip Wheeler, Jr. of Canyon; three stepsons, Lee Brown and wife Jennifer of Lewisville, Chad Brown of Claude, and Mike Campbell of Claude; a stepdaughter, Judy Duke and husband Johnnie of Splendora, TX; a sister, Donna Dye York of Amarillo and eleven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
